Urban Ballet Manguinhos: An online photo exhibition.
“You have never seen classical ballet like this…”. This is the slogan for the new demonstration of Urban Ballet Manguinhos (UBM). The Ballet Manguinhos traveling exhibition had its first display in 2016, in which banners were placed throughout Manguinhos, The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and many other places. For 2021, we propose an online version of it, due to global issues, revisiting places that we have already been and new ones. Through ballet, the pictures reveal other scenarios within Manguinhos, representing local talents, our community, along with other forgotten and unseen localities in our Favela in an unique approach.
The virtual exhibition shall visit the places in Manguinhos where concentrate the greatest number of people and it also reinforce our school’s support to cultural manifestations. One of our objectives is to revive and instigate photo exhibitions in Favelas and to arouse the interest for the many artistic areas, since Art is one of the paths which can positively transform the reality of children, young and adult people who live in our community. This exposition is meant to represent a positive appropriation of a territory that should be (and deserves to be) seen, invested and greatly recognized.
